LIFESTYLE NEWBORN PREP GUIDE
Welcoming a new baby into your home is one of life’s most beautiful transitions, and my goal is to capture that love and connection in the most natural way possible. Lifestyle newborn sessions are calm, organic, and focused on real moments that unfold naturally in your own space. To help you feel relaxed and prepared, here’s what you can expect and how to get ready for your session.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Lifestyle newborn sessions are held in the comfort of your home, where everything feels familiar and easy. I’ll gently guide you through relaxed, natural moments with your baby, focusing on the little details, quiet cuddles, and family connections that tell your story. There’s no need for formal posing or props; I simply document your life as it is in this season. Each session is slow-paced with plenty of time for feeding, changing, and soothing. We go with the flow and let your baby lead the way.
PREPARING YOUR SPACE
Before your session, open up the curtains and let in as much natural light as possible. I love working with soft, diffused light coming through windows. Tidy up just a few main areas we’ll use, like your bedroom, nursery, or living room, but don’t stress about having everything perfect. Real life is what makes your images beautiful. Neutral tones and cozy textures photograph best, so think soft blankets, linen bedding, and natural materials that reflect your home’s personality.
WHAT TO WEAR
Keep it simple and comfortable. Light, earthy, or neutral tones photograph beautifully and bring out that soft, timeless look. Flowing dresses, textured knits, and layers add warmth and movement. For babies, a plain onesie, swaddle, or simple diaper cover is all you need. The focus should always stay on them. Avoid bold patterns, logos, or anything too bright. Natural tones allow the connection and emotion to shine through.
FOR BABY
Don’t worry about keeping your baby awake before the session or following a strict schedule. A happy, comfortable baby is the goal. Have a few neutral blankets or wraps ready, and if possible, keep the house a bit warmer than usual to help your baby stay cozy.
MOST OF ALL
Let go of perfection. These photos aren’t about posing; they’re about connection. The tiny yawns, the gentle touches, the way your baby fits so naturally in your arms… those are the moments that matter most.
Your home, your love, your story — captured just as it is.
